Give me a reason as to why I should read boring as fuck philosophers like Hegel and Kant?

And don't give me the "HURR history of philosophy HURR" argument. If I want the history I'll read a summary if them, not torture myself with academic gobbledygook.

Tell me, what would I REALLY get out of reading them?

you don't have to read them if you don't want to

>> No.6786061

if you think they're boring you probably don't quite understand what is going on in their work. it's not just information

Kant is outdated and has been debunked
Read him for concept of the sublime tho, which translates into fiction

Because if you had an ounce of knowledge about the notion of paradigm, and how to use ancient or remnant of ancient paradigms to work on your own system/study contemporary systems you would read them.
(Only Kant, fuck Hegayl).
Kan't isn't boring at all if you know how to read him, Pure Reason is clear but long, that's all, however, you can skip most parts by simply applying what your red in tdtl aesthetics and tdtl logic (the aperception and schematism parts must be red tho, they're ultra important).
If you're too much of a plebeian to read the second critic simply read the groundings.
The third critic is easily red because you only read the arts part.

Tried reading Kant (Groundwork and Prolegema) and suffered immensely. I don't know how something could handle hundreds of pages of that like in COPR. That's some willpower.

If you are not serious about Philosophy then nothing. If you are then his ideas are going to pop up all over the place, and if you understand where these ideas are coming from you can realize where people are making unwarranted augmentations on his ideas or when they misinterpret it. If you are going to be in philosophical dialogue with Kantian you should know what Kant actually said.

you make philosophy sound like a HS debate club. posterior authors can expand on previous work and without the basics you just won't understand certain elements and think you're smarter than them because they didn't feel like explaining again basic reading.
