Hey guys,

Any European (incl. UK) readers here who can point me to a website (not eBay, I can't find anything worthwhile there) where I can buy used "classics"?

I've been looking at Penguin Modern Classics (I adore their covers), and while there are some lots on eBay, there aren't many and the composition often sucks. Also, it annoys me that there are French and German books included (I mean, English translations of such books); indeed, I can read French and German, and would therefore not want such books in a different language.

Thanks in advance.

Pic semi-related.

Why did you learn French and German?

Surely English was sufficient.

Fucking Europe. How about go back in time and put out the fires in the Libraries at Alexandria and Babylon?

My native language is Luxembourgish, which is *very* similar to German (therefore, I would say I'm a native German speaker); I had French in school when I was 6, and English when I was 14 (but English being omnipresent in today's culture, that wasn't really a challenge). I also speak a little Spanish, but only had three years in high school. I also had four years of Latin, but I don't remember anything.

Anyway, BTT. Where can I buy used English "classics"? I was sure I would find tons of lots on eBay, but didn't.

Do they have used books? 8-10€ is still too expensive when I want to buy 50 or so books. I was thinking 1-3€ per used book?

Abebooks is pretty good, but I couldn't say how extensive the non-English range is.

You don't have to fabricate languages. Just saying German would have sufficed.

Amazon.eu is no good?

Fabricate?

It's one of those two dollar English words.

It means to fashion out of yarn.

I have a few dozen Russian classic literature books, and I could give them to you for free, but I don't think you can read russian

I know very well what it means, but what did I fabricate?

Are you implying that Luxembourgish is not, in fact, a real language? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxembourgish

No, I don't, sadly. I have read Russian literature in German, though. Don't know why, but the German translations are surprisingly the most readable.

OP you sound like a pretentious faggot, but the sad truth is you apparently cannot afford to purchase new books, so you must be a poorfag.

I believe I was implying that you fashioned it out of yarn.

If fabricate even means that. But you seem to agree that it does, so I'll go along with you.

Pretentious faggot because I want to read books? Isn't that what this board is about?

I can afford new books, but I'd rather spend 200€ on 80 or so books that are used, than 200€ on 15 new books.
