i once saw an 'r-word' campaign and it took me forever to figure out they were referring to the word 'retarded'. as in 'being held back'

examples:

Fucking shit, I hate it. I bought a copy of Huck Finn online for school a few years back. When I got it all the niggers were replaced with slave. Teacher told me to send it back and get another edition. My copy of A Farewell to Arms is also censored and unlike in Huck Finn, I don't know what word is supposed be in place of the dashes. I think the word nigger is still there for all to see though.
