Do you know anyone that calls this business "Barnes and Nobles?"

It drives me crazy when people add an "s" to the end of place names to make them possessive. Another one I hear a lot is "Subways."

Hmm. I always called it that. Oh well.

I don't think it's possessive like Barn's and Nobel's, I think it's like Barns and Nobels.

Just call it Barnes. Also it's great that they let you just read the books and not buy them. I've saved hundreds of dollars on test prep material because of them.

When people say they're going to the store, they say, "I'm going to the store."
When people say they're going to the grocery store, they say, "I'm going to the grocery store."
When people say they're going to the Fred Meyer grocery store, they don't say, "I'm going to Fred Meyer's store," but "I'm going to Fred Meyer's."

It's implied that the name is the signature of the owners. You go to their store, but for the convenience of not saying something stupid like, "Fred Meyer's Store," you just say, "Fred Meyer's."

You socially oblivious retard.

Yeah, all the kids that hang out there after school and play fucking Magic The Gathering, smoke, read retarded fantasy novels and write fanfiction.

Why not just say "I'm going to Fred Meyer," since that's what it says on the sign on the store?

>Fred Meyer
Because you're not going to a person named fred meyer and it sounds awkward and robotic
