They keep records of all baptisms down to the godparents. If were born into another church, but received into the Roman Catholic Church, there would be a record of that. You also have to confirmed to be a monk anyway, I assume, and there are records of confirmations.

They have to do that, since only Roman Catholics are supposed to be getting Communion. Anglo-Catholics don't have closed communion, but we still keep such records, and with good reason: imagine if someone became a bishop and it came out that they were never even confirmed in the Church? Committing yourself to the Church is very serious, you need sponsors for baptism, and you need to take vows in front of the congregation for the bishop to confirm you. Plus, it even says in the Bible that there is ONE baptism for the remission of sins, a record is good to keep track of that. Protestants, if you'll excuse me, tend to do "drive-through" baptisms to go with their fast food communion.
