How's that German dictionary? I need something like that to peruse to help keep my vocab in check (and keep it growing!).

Get the book in my picture "Upgrade your German" then. It's designed for pre-university to university level students and has a day-at-a-time program where you learn how to utilise the language not only successfully but tactfully. If you get it, don't skip anything having the mask of being "too basic" as you soon end up wading in quite deep waters for the newly initiated non-native German speaker.

I have other books as well. Some of them are at my parents, and some I've lent out to my friends and gf.

Don Quixote in german. Idk. I just don't know. I give you a solid ?/10.

I don't know what to make of these combinations. You've got Tao and you've got Kierkegaard. You've got Vonnegut wedged between german Tolkein, penguin classics and idk what else.

?/10

I own and have read Shirer's "history" as well and I guess it had an early influence on me and piqued my interest in history, but in hindsight it was fairly questionable.
Even the foreword is overflowing with that totally castrating university discourse that, all Zizek and Lacan memes aside, is really so disheartening

I only use my kindle for free ebooks. Paper copies are usually cheaper, better formatted, easier to skim and take notes in, and don't disappear if the battery dies or the company that owns your digital rights contract goes bananas.

I only use Paper books for getting the log fire going on a cold winters eve - the rest of the time, I can snuggle with my beloved e-reader, under the blankets with the lights off, or simply, a candle or two lit in the chandelier. All ebooks are free, and I can format them however I prefer, making the text larger or smaller, which makes it EASIER TO TAKE NOTES THAN PAPER, FFS! and my ebooks, all those thousands of them - they never disappear - I can simply copy them, move them around, or have them follow me, no matter which of my most favored devices I am using that week? they always know, what page I am on. As I turn it, at will, with the merest elegant flick of a gesture.

Inserts additionally some irrelevant pish about 'books disappearing when batteries go flat' and 'The Demon DRM' - which I dont actually think has been in use for about the last decade either now, but, I digress..

>Paper? - dead and done, face it..
