I read this at 15 and even then I realized Dostoevsky was painfully mediocre.

I first read it at Saturday school when I was 16.

I had a tardy problem.

Retardy problem?

Not at all. This is the kind of book that you will gain different things from if you read it at different times in your life. Any age is a good age to read Crime and Punishment. I read it first in my early twenties and it was one of those few books that I can truly say changed my life.

i think so ?

Actually, it's better for you to read such classics at a mature intellectual level in your life.

You will understand and digest much more now than you would have 5 years ago.

Read it after youve read Nietzsche. If it doesnt change your outlook, youre set

I don't think it's that great. I mean, it's not bad, and there are some very interesting passages, but most of the prose is quite dry and boring and I've read way more captivating and enlightening books. Gotta say, I was coming to this book with great expectations, and was seriously let down.

East of Eden by Steinbeck is a much, much better pick, in my opinion.

Well, I don't speak russian so what else do I have left to do? Also, I'm not criticising the language as much as the narrative structure. You can try to paint me with memes as much as you want, but my two cents still is there are way better books than this.

Now, please tell us, what do you think 'prose' entails? And who's 'prose' do you think you read?

You're just the right age to read it. Raskolnikov is 23.
