Go to a publisher after you have been edited

Publishers don't take shit unless I have an agent.

Say that you are also your own agent or get a friend to be in place of an agent

Then shut the fuck up and go get an agent, you already know how it works.

Fucking agents are dismissive as fuck. As soon as I mention the word 'fantasy' they're already out the fucking door.

Find an agent that represents fantasy.

As a UK author, do I need to have an agent from the UK?

Also should my synopsis explain exactly what happens in the book chapter by chapter, or explain the plot overall in summarized terms?

>write book
>write an exposé of the book
>send the exposé to an agency
>if the agency likes it they ask you to send the rest
>if they still like it they'll send it to a publisher

or

>publish the book on the internet and market it yourself
>if it gets succesful you might be approached by a publisher

Explain the plot in summarized terms. Like one page apparently. Plot points and whatnot.

>> No.6644847

NO, ONE PAGE. NEVER MORE THAN ONE PAGE. Google how to write a query, goodluck.

>if they still like it they'll send it to a publisher
Close, but who they really send it to is editors at publishing houses that might be able to work on the book for you, and then get it published at those houses.

>publish the book on the internet and market it yourself
>if it gets succesful you might be approached by a publisher
Don't kid yourself, this's happened like four times out of thousands of self published books.

Fair enough. I was trying to say the agency might get you on the fast lane and functions as a first filter for the publisher. If you a whole book to a house it might go right into the trash. At least that's what I heard. Also writing competitions are a nogo apparently and if you entered a story there it's considered burned.

There are books on how to make a good pitch. Not saying you'll get all the answers there but it seems a good idea to make an informed decision. From what I know there a lot of minor fuck ups that get you rejected right away.

Don't know if it's a reason to get rejected but one thing I remember was the format of the actual document. Like if you send a digital document have an auto-format on the first space in a paragraph, I don't know the english expression, instead of just hitting tab. This apparently fucks with the text when you change the font size for instance.

Why would anyone here know?

No one here reads...no one here writes. Not seriously. 90% of us just vidya, shitpost, and most don't even have jobs. They just sit in the mothers house after high school not really doing anything except growing chin beards.

>> No.6645008

>>6644983
Apparently it's a thing, but don't take my word on it. Makes sense though because a) it makes the writing a tiny little bit easier, and b) you can format/edit your text without the tab spaces fucking things up. I'm saying there seems to be no reason to not do it.

Little shit like that.

I see. It's easier to format, indeed. Thanks.
