Ahoy, c/lit/ commanders.

I just sat down and wrote this in the span of the last hour. Tell me if it's worth continuing. Eviscerate at will.

At the beginning of the summer of ’66, Glen had been entrusted with two tasks. He ended up completing neither of them, but at least he lived.
Martha, who would later go on to become his friend’s Pete’s wife, was not exactly beautiful, but she wore her features gracefully and under the right light could be looked upon as a more than worthy mating partner. Glen remembered the first time he experienced coitus with Martha, the tequila had flowed a little too freely in Tijuana, and they had both been left behind in a dark alley by an overeager, adventurous group. Neither of them ever regretted it and once back in San Fernando Valley, they continued their surreptitious affair. What was most odd in that whole mess of sex and degradation was that beforehand Glen and Martha had had very few words to say to each other. That did not at all stop them from engaging in acts of sex that would make the most promiscuous blush. Glen and Martha shared, while nothing intellectual, a similar passion for dangerously rough intercourse. Glen was a sadist and, wonderfully coincidentally, Martha was a masochist. They only had one rule, and that was that nothing could be done above the neck or below the knees, for these were areas exposed by lack of clothing. Pete, throughout all this, would not even catch a hint. When it came down to it, both Glen and Martha understood that what they shared was fleeting and not profound. The simple truth of the matter was that Glen had more pleasing orgasms if he made a woman cry in agony, and Martha was only able to achieve climax if someone was inflicting pain on her body (preferably concentrating on her nipples).

>> No.655775

The first task came from Martha. It had seemed simple enough; don’t let Pete find out about their fling. Glen, maybe overconfident, thought it would be too easy to even think about. While close friends since their late teens, he and Pete saw each other only sporadically in their late twenties. In fact, the trip to Tijuana was an occasion so rare that it seemed to Glen as if it had called for something as momentous as adultery in order to be as outwardly memorable. Glen, of course, was too self-inquiring to let himself believe such mysticism, but, still, it remained an entertaining notion to mull over once and again.
Pete found out of the affair by blind luck, if not a lack of it. In the throes of their sexual raptures, Glen and Martha seldom minded their physical possessions. This encompasses shirts, pants, underwear and, most importantly for our purposes, jewelry. During a routinely explosive session of intercourse, when exactly is unclear in both partners’ recollections, Martha’s engagement ring was lost. They searched—actually, the searching was undertaken mostly by a resentful Glen—every sexual setting they could remember. It was all fruitless, and in an ironic development of events worthy of Stendhal, Pete found the ring while he was looking for a fallen remote control in between the cushions of Glen’s living room couch.

>> No.655780

The ring, which would now be dutiful to discuss, was a lavish thing. Its price range to Glen seemed unfathomable. While he would never mutter it out loud, he also didn’t believe Martha was worth it. Sadly enough, it was quite obvious Pete was mad about Martha, in ways Glen could not even comprehend. Though Martha proved to be the most satisfying coital partner Glen ever had, there were things in her personality and the way her mind worked that seemed detestable to Glen. For one, she could not imagine a world where figures of authority or large corporations could knowingly lie to the general public. It was not so much a refusal to acknowledge such occurrences, but a subconscious dismissal of the idea as absurd. Such complacency was one Glen had no patience for. He let himself display his contempt with impunity. He would openly mock her naïveté when she exclaimed surprise when an expose appeared in the media. He liked to remind her that if she had lived in Germany before the war, she would’ve been more than likely a full-fledged member of the Nazi Party. At first, Martha had taken such comments as playful, but eventually they made her angry and prompted her to call him such names as pedantic or egotistic. Glen, being such a peculiar specimen, often took those insults, not as critiques of his communicative skills or accusations leveled at his self-esteem, but as petty bile coming from a character too childish to accept the blunt opinions of a sharper mind. All in all, Glen’s value of Martha as anything other than a canvas for his sadistic whims was indeed low.

>> No.655786

This is horrible.

>> No.655781

The discovery of the ring he had saved up for five months for in between those filthy cushions was all too brutal for Pete. It could only mean one thing. Martha had told him the ring had been lost during a picnic with friends (female) from university. She claimed they had gone into one of their wrestling bouts more than once, and it was likely the ring had been lost then. Pete, while irked, had laughed it off. She had recounted this through what Pete now thought were masterfully crafted tears. He had believed her pain, and maybe some of it was actually sincere—he only hoped. There had never been a mention of visiting Glen at his apartment, and if he recalled correctly, Martha had gone out of her way to mention she had very little fondness for Glen’s person, claiming she saw his attitude as arrogant and his presence altogether abominable. Actually, he’d felt some defensive of Glen, whom Pete thought was being superficially judged. “Don’t be so hard on him,” he’d said. “Give him a chance.” The words now caused his stomach to turn. At the moment, Martha’s infidelity was more tolerable than his own pathetic ignorance.

the one thing that doesn't make sense to me is why pete would automatically assume that martha was having an affair at all, much less with glen, just because she lied about losing her ring. other than that, it seems good; you have a unique writing style, which i like.
