Get the conversation going, y'know?

If I were to just blurt out "The Waves, Virginia Woolf" or something, who's to say I'll see her again even if she does read it and likes it?
Her number and going out with her is the thing, not the book rec.

I think what OP is saying is more of a hypothetical, and that it's more about the book you would recommend and it's connotations, rather than striking a date with your crush. I mean, unless this is some sort of pretentious fantasy circle-jerk, in which case I'm clearly wrong.

If he's looking for advice or just some survey kind of deal; "What do you think girls wanna read, lit?" answer stands. I can't tell what she's going to like yet. I can only give recommendations of books I read or have heard a sufficient amount about, and have heard about some of the things she likes.

Short answer I guess is I donno.

after thinking about this question way longer than I'd be able to in conversation, I'd say All The Pretty Horses for these reasons

1. most people don't read much and this book is easy
2.the overall pathos is very similar to my outlook on life
3.excellent prose
4.the title would hook most girls and therefore surprise them with the content

When people ask me about my tastes in particular things I either tell them that I hate medium "m" or that I have never consumed medium "n." Examples:

>I hate music
> I have never read a book

But bro how are we supposed to make connections based on mutual interests if we don't let others know what those interests are? Maybe connections with those foundations are just not appealing? Maybe connections themselves are just not appealing?

Maybe we need to get off 4chan tbh

I feel as if we have an understanding, you and I.

>> No.6528315

>>6528282
I meant personal connections, which 4chan isn't really conductive to without taking further measures because of the anonymous nature and tbh that's kinda the whole point of this place. You have no name, no face, no voice, etc. I haven't/can't/won't see you and the same things go for me so, even though I know its not necessarily true in any way, this whole interaction might as well be a figment of our imagination. Its strange and kind of unsettling how this is the only place I've ever felt comfortable to consistently interact with others online, social media and even forums never really worked for me and Im more likely to lurk for eternity without ever submitting anything. Funny though how irl I can't seem to shut up lel

I do the same thing, both not posting online and not shutting up irl. Both stem from a sense of anxiety about being known or somehow "found out." Online I don't participate to avoid being seen altogether, in real life I talk too much in order to cover my tracks.

That hits close to home and i think I've come to realize that over the past year or so. And not only to cover up tracks but to hold up your own imagined expectations of what others might possibly have of you, and maybe more importantly what those you might have of yourself. Attaching and associating general labels or ideals to you own identity is already uncomfortable when im doing it to myself, that is magnified a million times when i feel that someone else thinks they know me well enough to do it for me. That label, either self imposed or imposed by someone else, feels constricting to who I was/am/will be as an individual person but for whatever reason I will feel like I need to maintain it if it becomes the status quo.

But yeah, i kinda already realized what the problems/solutions were to all this in theory, its just hard to get over that mountain of anxiety to put it into practice. Honestly though 4chan has actually helped me in a way that there's no reason to avoid being seen altogether because nobody really cares to that extent what they see of me, and there's no reason to cover my tracks because nobody really cares to that extent what tracks I've left.

I'm usually one to give the benefit of the doubt to someone else so why not afford myself the same luxury. I'm no better or worse than anyone else, we're all people and i believe people are mostly good, just need to remind myself that I'm a "people" too.

And I'm gonna stop now cause i feel stupid and nice blog etc
