To be fair, he did practice what he preached, and not what the Code Naopleon did.

This is just a great photo in general. Happy accident or not I love the use of space between Joyce and the happy family behind him combined with his expression. The juxtaposition is perfect.

I've never read a single work by Joyce.

yeah i'm in love with this pic as well. Joyce was one of those authors who's scope of vision was so large as to be tragic. Literary genius has a really gorgeous tragic element that separates the man from the world, from his family and from himself in such a way that you can't help but admire them. Massive power.

This is the closest I could find. To a date. Since her hairbdoesnt appear to be blonde in that picture I'd assume it was before then.

>Her blonde hair was part of an attempt to to start over and adopt a new persona, following her first suicide attempt in August of 1953. Plath, who had spent six months in psychiatric care following the suicide attempt, had seemed to improve greatly by the the summer of 1954. This period of time has been lovingly referred to by her biographers as her “platinum summer.”

Yeah, I only discovered her work last year (My Grandma always buys me a book for my birthday and she ended up buying me not only The Bell Jar but her collected poems and journals too) and I connected with her more than any other author.

She really did leave a tragic life. As I said in a previous post, it's scary how closely I relate to her. I felt like I was falling in love with her, as sad as that sounds.
