It's come to my attention that in the course of the intellectual discussion on this board, some posters have been and made responses that were... downright rude. I think we can all agree this is not the way to foster a good environment for toptier literary theory debate. Do you think Tao Lin swears at people on Google chat or Pynchon tells people who disagree with him to "go back to reddit"? Obviously not. So to remedy this abhorrent lack of fundamental courtesy I will propose some etiquette for debate.

1. When you reply to a post start off something nice, "Hello friend, it's anon. I see you've posted a jpg of Marx and then the word 'thoughts'..." etc. This will engender camaraderie.

2. Try to mention something you liked about their post in addition to your criticisms.

3. try to cut down on words some people may find offensive. Instead of calling someone a "natalistnigger" maybe just tell them you like their writing style.

Feel free to critique my rules or add you own and thanks for your time. I hope we can make /lit/ a better place!
