Well, it's a bigger ride than I thought it was possible for someone to take. To the level of the house they took on France to avoid taxes was good since he could take a boat ride to Morocco to buy pure heroin (with his 6 year old kid abroad a boat with 5 kg of heroin).

It must be great to live like that, until you think about the kind of life you're leading. I'm still thankful for all the good shit he did, the Stones were probably the first THING (realize I'm not talking about a band, food or text, a THING) I've known I liked.

My dad is really into them despite being 100% against drugs.

(As for the translation thing, my gf is one of the people trying to translate A Void to portuguese and I know the hell translators go through, but people have dismissed my shelf in the past but I'm also drunk so I want to be ignored and etc.)

It has been a while since I read it, but Foner is a top-tier scholar, it's worth reading anything written by him. Whether you should read that book through cover to cover, or just scan through it will depend on how much other Lincoln and Emancipation -related material you've already consumed, there are thousands of books about Lincoln and the issues surrounding the Civil War, odds are if you've read a few of them you'll find much of TFT very familiar.

I'm a big but not huge stones fan. I LOVE the entire Some Girls album, though, and really like Exile on Main Street as well. Shit I like most of their stuff actually but those two are my favorites. Tumbling Dice is one of their best.
For other music I love singer-songwriter stuff, from Bob Dylan to Ryan Adams. And of course Warren Zevon.

>> No.6418420

>>6418397
Honestly I read the first chapter of Underworld and put it down (and I love baseball). I got all my DeLillo books as a lot from a store that was closing so I hadn't read anything by him before. I liked White Noise and Point Omega alot, didn't care for Cosmopolis, and the thought of meanding through 1000 pages of stereotypical postmodern drivel (all style no substance) just made me put it down entirely.

On a related note, jesus christ Im having a hard time getting through 2666. On the part about Archimboldi now and man... I just find it boring. I feel like so far the part about the Crimes was the only section of the book that should have been published, maybe with the part about Fate edited down and put in there as well or maybe as a prologue of sorts
