Yo, you guys who use ereaders and pirate all your lit... do you end up buying the books hardcopy for your shelf if you like it or nah, fuck it?

I'm considering doing the former, but I'm not sure if having a bunch of new books on a shelf will bring me any extra delight in my life.

nah, fuck it

The only exceptions are books that have pictures (such as maps) which look terrible on an e-reader.

You should... when you're 60yo and you look back on all the adventures you went on you're going to feel really proud, more-so if you just kept track with a google doc.

Your kids will benefit from being around such class as well.

Sometimes, but it has to be a book that is special to me or an author who I really want to support. Most of the books I buy are used or paperbacks though so authors rarely see much money from me either way.

Nonsense, the well read man would have seen the disadvantages, simple pleasure and easy distraction that comes out of video games and sold every game related device and software he had.

I use the e-reader only when I can't find a physical copy.
I live in a small town and there are no bookstores that sell books in English. I have to take a bus to go to the city and buy a damn book. Sometimes it's just pointless, so I pirate that shit.

The guy with the video game console.

Video games are becoming more a more popular, reaching an audience they didn't have before.

The offspring of each one will succeed partially because of his own knowledge and partially because of his relationship with his peers. A sad but true fact: your employeer doesn't care about how much you know if you're uncapable of get along with others.

The relationship between people is better the more they have in common. Those who have better relationship with their peers are capable of a more effective team work.

Since we are considering at least fifteen years in the future from now (twenty years for our not yet existing offspring to get a job, margin of five considering the possibility of their existence and their probable age given that 4channers are 23 years old in average) videogames will become mainstream and as popular as sports used to be (and are today among old people) (see diy report 2014).

Therefore, those who know about videogames will get along better with their peers. It will be easier for them to get along with workmates since all of them know about and play videogames, particularly if they go into stem among which videogames are more popular.

Conclusion: Having a video game console will make the life of your offspring easier.
Note that 60 games may not be enough. I suggest a library of 200 games at least.

>do you end up buying the books hardcopy for your shelf if you like it

I do often. My amazon wishlist is full of books I've read and liked but don't own the physical copy of. It's pretty useful for bumping small orders up high enough to get free shipping.

I like having physical books basically as a memory aid. A glance at my shelf gives me a rush of memories, not only of the books themselves but of the times in my life when I was reading them. Taking one of the shelf and remembering reading at the park while waiting to get tickets for a play isn't an experience that can be duplicated with an e-reader the way that actual reading can be.

People that think one medium is inherently superior to the other and campaign for it in greentext on /lit/ are retarded.

Digital, whatever.

Still I'd like someone to explain to me why they continue playing video games even though it gives absolutely nothing back to you or your life, it only takes.

>but the studies!
The studies show video games are as much as a mental workout as to walking from your car to the kitchen with your groceries is a physical workout.

They'll throw hours at a game, and then turn around and try to defend it. It blows my mind quite literally.
