The Anglican church submits to it -- and even promotes it -- because deep down, they're completely self-aware that they're heretics who follow the religion of anything-goes. They just want to feel better about it. There's good reason why the Catholic/EOrth churches completely ignore it.

They're protestants, being on par with Catholics and Orthodox does not make them more respectable to their kin, in makes them more heretical. Branch theory, at least Anglican branch theory, is an Anglo-Catholic reaction against protestant tendencies within Anglicanism, it works to invalidate them. It came out of the Oxford Movement, which was an attempt to align the Church of England with Catholicism more in the hope of repairing the schism and putting Anglicans back under Papal authority. When this wasn't brought about, some Anglo-Catholics converted to Catholicism, such as John Henry Newman.
