yeah m8, when we talk about a better alternative to capitalism, North Korea style government is usually exactly what we have in mind.

It may not, but it'd be extremely disingenuous to say they weren't trying to at least make a united Communist Peninsula against Imperial Japanese rule. Kim Il-Sung studied Marxist and Communist theory with other Bolsheviks in Moscow's Lenin School. Call them fascists or whatever you like, but it doesn't automatically discredit the Communist ideal to say that they attempted the revolution with full sincerity but still fucked it up.

Kim Sung-Il and his son's understanding of marxist theory is increadibly superficial. DPRK's state ideology, Juche, is a negation of not only core marxist principles, but a negation of any remote nuance in theory. All of this blatant revisionism, of course, masquerades as some theoritical extention of Marxism-Leninism, but every revisionist claims such, and not only that, but the average Jucheist's understanding of Marx or Lenin is not derived directly, but via the superficial remarks made by il-Sung or Jung-il.

>but it'd be extremely disingenuous to say they weren't trying to at least make a united Communist Peninsula against Imperial Japanese rule.

No it wouldn't. There were at least six factions in the North Korean Party:

*Nomenklatura trained in Moscow
*Nomenklatura trained in China
*Nomenklatura who stayed behind
*Nomenklatura of the Kim faction
*The Southern region proletarian movement
*The Northern region proletarian movement

The Kim faction always had Juche embodied within it, and the only two factions there working for a communist peninsula were the southern and northern region proletarian movements. The other three were working for nomenklatura run capitalism.

>Kim Il-Sung studied Marxist and Communist theory with other Bolsheviks in Moscow's Lenin School.

So? This is a genetic fallacy. I was born in capitalism therefore I'm capitalist? Judge the man by his deeds, and his deeds were Juche.

>Call them fascists or whatever you like, but it doesn't automatically discredit the Communist ideal to say that they attempted the revolution with full sincerity but still fucked it up.

Except they didn't attempt the revolution with full sincerity. They attempted, at best, to make a little Soviet Union, and in the case of the Kim faction, to make a private realm for national chauvanism so extreme that we seriously must question whether the Kim clique was effectively a fascist response to revolution within nomenklatura capitalism.
