Why is this book a meme to you guys? K stole it from Barnes and noble because I thought it was just a joke. I read it and I can't name anything in the 21st century that better captures the spirit of it.

I liked it until the final section. Think Shoplifting and his poetry are better

The people who treat it as a meme probably haven't read it, or anything by Lin, except maybe some poems (only because they're short)

Kinda. The dialogue mostly.

>>6363617

People are jelly. It's truly amazing and transcends his other work.

>>6363618

Shoplifting is excellent, such great use of minimalism with regards to his ditching punctuation and interior. I have not read much of his poetry.

>>6363635

Probably. I have faith that /lit/ reads the books that are shit-talked often, but you never know, literally, so I usually ignore belligerent haters. It could be pic-related making every single Tao Lin/DFW hate thread.

Read it last month. Pretty entertaining book.

Favorite parts were Bateman's ridiculous dialogue, like saying he only watches Letterman not on cable, or when he explains to the police detective what that "Yale thing" means

Check out Less Than Zero by BEE.

Less Than Zero is a good first novel, but it pales in compassion to American Psycho.

BEE really has a trilogy of novels that describe his psychological development:
Rules of Attraction
American Psycho
Lunar Park
These document his struggle to come to terms with his inner demons and find meaning inside a society that he can dissect and inhabit by proxy but never really fit into. It Lunar Park he solves this psychoanalytic kerfuffle.

Then he threw it all away with the regressive piece of shit that was Imperial Bedrooms.
