There is a very easy explanation why the writers of today (including you) are hacks and losers.
The answer is: medium/technology.

There are two charts which plot "Degree of Distraction" against "Write Performance" for manual writing, typewriting and writing on PCs with and without internet access.

I'll explain it in a moment.

The writers of the past, such as Tolkien, wrote their drafts manually and created beautiful works of art. He used a typewriter only for documentation purposes, not in a creative purpose.
Manual writing is nearly free of distractions and allows a moderate write performance. One still has to change the papers and dip their quills or sharpen their pencils.
These interruptions in work are not detrimental to the creative process and may even further it.

Writers were quick to adopt the typewriter after it's inception.
A typewriter is louder and a bit more distractive than manual writing, but faster.
This just fits to the buzzing modern times in which typewriters were used.
Still, one had to manually revert the platen and insert new pages: A forced break after each line and each page.
All in all, a typewriter allowed the writers to access their creative powers in a fast fashion and is just as good as manual writing.
For example, Cormac McCarthy still uses a typewriter.

Let's go fast forward to the 80s: personal computers.
A PC is not as loud as a typewriter and therefore less distractive.
There are no forced breaks if you are working on a PC.
And it is also a lot faster than a typewriter.
It really is the sweet spot of ditraction-free and performant writing.
The result: GRRM adopts a DOS-PC, uses WordStar 4.0 and churns out bad-written, mindless bestseller after bestseller.
If you want to write fast, there has never been better technology.

Welcome to the present: You can't buy a PC without internet capabilities.
The internet, that's 4chan, youtube, anime, porn and 1001 other distractions.
The influence of SMS, Twitter and Facebook have destroyed our linguistic capabilities.
Working on your novels and texts is now next to impossible.
Also, your texts and data may be destroyed anytime by hackers and viruses.
The contemporary writers of generation 4chan have never known the benefits of typewriters.
What's the typical response if there's a thread about typewriters?
We all know it: *tips fedora*

Shto delat? What is to be done?
If 4chan people want to write meaningful texts, we have to plug the internet.
There are three options:
>Give up writing (perhaps the best option)
>Write manually
>Buy a typewriter
>Build a PC for the sole purpose of creative, intellectual and patrician endeavours

I myself have decided to build a PC because of the capability for encryption. It will be fast to boot-up, silent and fanless. Autostart-configuration will open Q10 after boot. There will be forced breaks after each line. Display will be only black and white.

TLDR: Op is a fag, builds a silent pc for writing, wants to convince others to do the same.
inb4 the charts are not scientific

I agree with this option, although building isn't necessary as a weak machine suffices to write. I bought a $200 11.6" laptop and use it only to write; I've been tempted by distraction but I save /lit/, dota2, and porn for the PC I built.

Write whatever you want in whatever way you want. If you need pointers and tips you should consider not writing. Like ever.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ego_depletion

Ego depletion refers to the idea that self-control or willpower draw upon a limited pool of mental resources that can be used up.[1] When the energy for mental activity is low, self-control is typically impaired, which would be considered a state of ego depletion. In particular, experiencing a state of ego depletion impairs the ability to control oneself later on. A depleting task requiring self-control can have a hindering effect on a subsequent self-control task, even if the tasks are seemingly unrelated.

OP is a massive faggot. Did you pull the charts out of your ass? kek

Building a whole new PC in order to be able to write is a pretty shitty solution IMO. Just fucking write.

Writing is a practice that requires discipline. Building discipline is the solution you're looking for.

See OP when you make a retarded bait thread you're not supposed to put much effort into it. You use a more provocative statement that'll draw reactions and leave it at that.

Try harder next time.
