There are something about Southern writers, Faulkner and O'Connor in particular, that are so interesting to me, even though I'm as far detached as possible living in a western world.

how the fuck is as i lay dying boring?

>> No.6288951

>>6288835
Because it's a unique culture that's almost the same Western way of life while also being more archaic and exciting.

I finished Light in August a few days ago.

It had some amazing moments, but for the most part I really just didn't care.

As I Lay Dying and The Sound and The Fury were fantastic. Can't wait to read Absalom, Absalom!.

James Franco's from California though. Does that really count as the South? Een though, obviously, it's pretty much in the south.

It's like less than 200 pages, how can you not finish it?

>> No.6289397

>>6289353
It's almost 300 actually.
You're both plebs

Mine is 239 and had an absurd amount of empty pages between chapters. I'm sure there are editions under 200 pages, even if they aren't too nice to read.

What is everyones favorite work by james franco?

I like the movie where he is smoking the weed but doesn't want the other person to know he is smoking the weed and it gets really awkward and funny because he's trying to hide the fact that he was just smoking weed!

Where do you live? As a Southerner, I love Southern Gothic authors, but I could see something being lost in translation, so to the speak, outside of the South.
