Honestly? Disappointing. It's obviously very different from his comic stuff and for me it smacked of hero worship. It's a historical nonfiction piece that goes for pathos, which seemed inappropriate and artificial. It's not awful by a long shot, but it's not nearly as special as his other stuff.

It seems to me the people who throw around the meme that these authors are for teenagers are exactly the people who have developed a superficial look at what they've written and then judge it as literature for immature people.
