I found this novel to be interesting as a portrait of the evolution of French society in the second half of the XXth century similar to Annie Ernaux's Les années. As for its theses about sexuality and gender, they fall short, even though they are ever present. The long sex scenes with Bruno are too reiterative. The whole transhuman stuff is so underachieved. You could take the epilogue out and the whole transhumanist debate would be gone

Is that a book about the periodic table?

Do you say that because you read a book by him, or because you erroneously believe that he's racist?

Platform is my favourite book of his, but I enjoyed all his novels (Lanzarote was utter shit though). I'm looking forward to when Submission is translated into English or my main language, as I'm a filthy pleb who doesn't read literature in its original language.

Despite how much of a dick he is for using a terrorist incident to market and promote his books I'm very curious about reading his vision of an Islam ruled Europe. Too bad it'll never see print in the UK since it would piss off the entire population.
