Alright, Pynchon and DFW are getting old as meme authors, and Nietzsche is getting old as our resident meme philosophers. The solution is clearly to choose new ones.

I read Carpenter's Gothic then Agapē Agape and then J R and I think he's great. I definitely recommend reading Agapē before J R because it's actually featured in J R. I've seen people say they didn't like Carpenter's Gothic but it's short and sort of a crash course into his style. I haven't read The Recognitions or A Frolic of His Own yet but J R is one of my favorite books.

>> No.6171584

>>6171567
Read the Recognitions. I think that Gaddis's dialogue is exalted way too far beyond his prose, but the Recognitions being his first book is still about 50% prose, and it's the most beautiful I've ever read. The pure dialogue style he developed is a little tiresome for me, but the Recognitions is perfect.

I'll probably read that as soon as I finish IJ then. I don't own it yet but I've been meaning to order it for a while. Have you read A Frolic of His Own?
