How do I fix my ADD that makes reading for any length of time extremely difficult?

you'll probably grow out of it. Just keep reading as much as you find you're able to

i'm not a doctor obviously, but in my own experience i think most of the symptoms of ADD have to do with maturity and discipline.

when you start taking yourself and your life seriously, you will naturally start wanting to do things with your time that are good for you (like reading books instead of shitposting on 4chan)

you just don't care enough yet, and that's perfectly fine. You're 20. you're still way ahead of schedule.

ADHD is fake, though.

>Author Richard Saul said that over the course of his long career, and treatment of patients complaining of problems related to short attention spans and an inability to focus, he’s come to one conclusion: ADHD is only a collection of symptoms, not a disease or disorder in itself. It shouldn’t be listed as a separate disorder in the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, he said, The New York Post reported.

>The number of ADHD diagnoses has increased in recent years simply because doctors are failing to probe deeply enough and question patients about related health matters — and because ADHD has become an embraced, accepted catch-all diagnosis, he said. And more bluntly: Mr. Saul said parents seek an easy way to get their children to sit down and shut up, and the treatments for ADHD — Adderall and Ritalian — do the trick.

>Then how do you explain Harold Bloom?

He's been reading a plethora of books since he was a child. His neurons are hard-coded for it

By exercise I don't mean running, either, I just mean spending time on your feet and doing stuff. Start walking to the store and doing things like that, and you'll find your focus improve

>On his death bed, this psychiatrist pioneer admitted that ADHD is essentially a “fictitious disease,” which means that millions of young children today are being needlessly prescribed severe mind-altering drugs that will set them up for a life of drug addiction and failure.

>As explained by The Sons of Liberty host Bradlee Dean, who also writes for The D.C. Clothesline, ADHD was merely a theory developed by Eisenberg. It was never actually proven to exist as a verifiable disease, despite the fact that Eisenberg and many others profited handsomely from its widespread diagnosis.

It is pure invention.

>Leon Eisenberg took over the management of psychiatry at the prestigious Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and became one of the most famous psychiatrists in the world. In his last interview, seven months before his death from prostate cancer at the age of 87, he distanced himself from his youthful indiscretion.

>A tall, thin man with glasses and suspenders opened the door to his apartment in Harvard Square in 2009, invited me to the kitchen table, and poured coffee. He said that he never would have thought his discovery would someday become so popular. "ADHD is a prime example of a fabricated disorder," Eisenberg said. "The genetic predisposition to ADHD is completely overrated."

Harvard psychologist Dr. Jerome Kagan:

>SPIEGEL: Experts speak of 5.4 million American children who display the symptoms typical of ADHD. Are you saying that this mental disorder is just an invention?

>Kagan: That's correct; it is an invention. Every child who's not doing well in school is sent to see a pediatrician, and the pediatrician says: "It's ADHD; here's Ritalin." In fact, 90 percent of these 5.4 million kids don't have an abnormal dopamine metabolism. The problem is, if a drug is available to doctors, they'll make the corresponding diagnosis.

Where to begin? In the vapid retrenchment of your argument with the idea that any sort of power configuration automatically carries the weight of the point you believe you're trying to make? Or the fact that the author of the interview has produced an edited transcript in which the term ADHD is abstracted into its actual medical definition, and its political discourse - and that you can't work this out for yourself?

You're so caught up in the epistemology of what constitutes a disorder that you can't see beyond basic discourses. Ironically, you're trying to demonstrate that it isn't a 'valid' 'scientific' disorder, which is even funnier.

>A second world-renowned scientist has come forward to support claims that ADHD is not a real disease, but a description of symptoms. Dr Bruce Perry said most people displayed signs of the condition at some point in their lives. He also said psychostimulant drugs, such as Ritalin, used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder may have long-term adverse effects. It comes after US neurologist Dr Richard Saul claimed ADHD did not exist, in a book serialised by the Daily Mail.
