I did. All the sites limned state he said it, but there is n actual proof he said it. No interview date, no interviewer, sure as shit no publication where he'd directly quoted.

do you have any reason to doubt the content G Rabassa's quote? why are you so hung up on it? seems to me you'll only be appeased with a recording of Garcia Marquez saying such. he said it. get over it. no one really cares much and it seems only to be a matter of pride to dismiss Rabassa's claim.
