How has /lit/ extended their vocabulary.
Pic related whenever I come across a word I don't understand I type it in and learn it over time

I learned Latin, and keep a notepad with me when I read to write down anything unfamiliar for later review.

Write in on a notecard and later input it into Anki to study.

Same, you guys will rage but GTA V is patrish as fuck, they use a lot of big vocabulary words and I just write them down or search them on the spot. That or writing down words I come across I don't know while online or reading.

My kindle also has a pretty similar dictionary system that saves everything I highlight so I can go back through them like flashcards

>> No.5961917

I write them down on the default note app on my itouch, and look up the definition with Apple's dictionary. After I'm done reading, I write random sentences using those words.

is there a purpose behind expanding your vocabulary to the point where 99% of people have to google the words youre using to understand whats being said?

Yes, to get to the point where you use words effectively and the result is a rich array.

Your comment is really anti-intellectual.

I look it up in the dictionary I keep beside me when I read, then I write down the word and the definition into the notebook I keep for definitions, and then in a couple of months I type those definitions into a word document and occasionally look at the definitions to ensure I will remember them. It works pretty well

No. Any given number has a probability of 1/10

Two of the same number in a row is (1/10)*(1/10)=1/100=0.01

Language is so much easier to broaden and enrich when you're young. So learn as much as you can before your brain atrophies. Based method: read everything everything.

You've calculated the probability of getting a specific dubs e.g. 11.
The probability of the last number matching the number before it is 1/10.

Alternatively, you can calculate the probability by dividing the number of dubs there are by the number of numbers there are. 10 dubs / 100 numbers = 0.1
