Why haven't you embraced your mortality and found joy in your life?

I'm not mortal.

I have but it would still be cool to live for longer than around 80 years

I keep finding joy for a little bit and then losing it the next day, leaving me to try and capture it again.

I wish you could only attain happiness once. And it may be really difficult. But once you do, it never leaves again

Buddhists call it nirvana, but it is not joy as you think, just perfect calmness that never leaves you, no matter what.
Achieving it takes a lot of meditation and/or psychedelics.

This happened to me recently, but then doubt came back. I read something online all about how religion and faith are part of human nature or necessary to man or a stage of man or something like that. Combine that with how many geniuses were religious, and I started to doubt I was right about mortality and finding joy in it. Now I'm just confused and unhappy, looking for the peace I had yesterday

Not necessarily religion, but some sort of spirituality. Read some Spinoza.

i'm too busy writing books. The only joy to be found is finishing a new one and setting it free into the world for others to enjoy.

Don't forget to swap your car for a horse because many geniuses used horses as a mode of transportation.
