Existential crises are usually self-obsessed misreadings of reality.

A simple thought experiment: imagine existing on Earth without any other people; everything is the same but there are no people.

Now imagine yourself not existing and everything else being the same.

This simple juxtaposition should be enough to indicate that human life is essentially a social phenomenon.

Now recall that there are other humans in the world who would flourish from your love and who have love to give to you- love in its fullest sense, gratuitous, disinterested and so forth.

The ethical demands of the act of loving humans present enough problems with such urgency that abstract investigations into self-meaning become distant and uninteresting.

It's the translation I read, and if you google it there are a lot of articles saying it's a good translation. However for a book like The Stranger any translation should be fine (Gilbert, Ward).

Whats the difference between absurdism and existensialism?

>> No.5862404

>>5862395
> The three schools of thought diverge from there. Existentialism has generally advocated the individual's construction of his or her own meaning in life as well as the free will of the individual. Nihilism, on the contrary, contends that "it is futile to seek or to affirm meaning where none can be found."[8] Absurdism, in Camus's formulation, hesitantly allows the possibility for some meaning or value in life, but is neither as certain as existentialism is about the value of one's own constructed meaning nor as nihilism is about the total inability to create meaning. Camus's absurdism also devalues or outright rejects free will, encouraging merely that the individual live defiantly and authentically in spite of the psychological tension of the Absurd.[9]

Salinger cloistered himself like a retard because of too much media attention.

Camus was poor from the start and understood hardship, loved his mother, never stopped fighting against oppression, was against the whole Communist Regime in Russia even though all the other existentialists like Sartre were circlejerking over it and claiming that it was the way to go, and finally died in a blaze of glory.
