I live in the Netherlands, no decent bookstores nearby, forced to order them online, every store has shitty paperbacks. No creditcard for Amazon.

I fucking despise paperbacks. GOD DAMN. I know it's not that big of a problem but I can't lie on the couch and read a book because I have to force it to go flat. I can't see half the page when I'm halfway through a book. I mean look at pic related.

Anyone any idea where I can buy decent hardcovers in the Netherlands or surrounding area? Or do I really have to get a creditcard?

why not buy the hardcovers on bookdepository? No creditcard needed. Buy with Paypal. Use money2.nl to immediately put your money via iDeal on your Paypal. That way you don't need to wait. Do it all the time. Not going to waste my money on bol.com

On adlibris you could buy books online and pay when you get the, from the post-office. But it might depend on where you live.

Sometimes there is. Mostly the paperbacks are a lot cheaper than on bol.com

Bookdepository link doesn't work for me. But
http://www.bol.com/nl/p/ulysses/1001004011825250/
That one is a lot cheaper than the other one, still being a hardcover. Some books on bol.com are just ridiculous, though. I've seen books on sale for 1200 euros and such. But I buy most of my paperbacks for roughly 5-9 euros there.

I wonder where OP lives though, because there will always be a city relatively close to you in Holland where you can buy books.

>Infinite Jest paperback voor 18 euro in de winkel
>tweedehandse eerste druk voor 20 euro bij alibris gekocht

Boekwinkels zijn pure schijt.
De meeste paperbacks die je voor 8 euro via bookdepository kan bestellen zijn in de winkels toch rond de 12-15 euro.

But if you're going to buy from Amazon do it via the German site not the UK. UK you have to pay for delivery to the Netherlands, from the German one not.
