/lit/, here's my 'to read' list:

A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
Brave New World
The Picture of Dorian Gray

What should I start with? I'm leaning towards 'A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich'.

That one is the best out of those in my opinion. Go for it.

Brave New World is only anecdotally related to life in our society.

Read the SparkNotes, skip the book.

(Before people get pissed off, I meant that BNW is superior to 1984 only in that its vision of the future was ultimately more correct. It otherwise lacks the urgency and bite of Orwell.)

Does it matter what you start with? If it does:
The Picture of Dorian Gray
A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
Brave New World

Huxley's got better work available. I'd read Island instead of Brave New World if OP is absolutely set on experiencing his writing.

The moral of the story in "A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" is to not ask people for cigarette butts.
