> Aufhebung and The End of History are great concepts and were powerful historical influences, but do they really warrant being judged the single most influential philosopher of all time

Only people who haven't read Hegel think these are the sum of his contributions to philosophy. Hegel's influence is incalculable, his understanding of psychology was a hundred years ahead of his time, and his conception of reason as the key to freedom from conditioning cannot be overestimated in its implications. He said Christ set us on the path to free us from morality, and he understood that material alienation was psychological and with numerous aspects. He's significantly influenced virtually every major philosopher since.

Do you have a reading order to recommend and maybe some companion books that can be found on line?

Hegel also had a huge impact in semiotics/linguistics and the way we understand human communitaction and information processing.

I'd recommend going from micro to macro, starting with the work that lays out Hegel's system and terms: Science of Logic, Phenomenology of the Spirit (Mind), The Philosophy of Right, The Philosophy of History.

For companion books, I'd recommend Heraclitus' fragments, Organon, A Treatise Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge, The Critique of Pure Reason, and The Science of Right.

I'd recommend secondary literature, but most of what I've read doesn't clear up Hegel at all. The easiest way to understand Hegel is by starting with the Science of Logic. The other prior reads are also helpful.

Please, talk about Hegel.

Someone has something interesting to say about Hegel? What about his connection with art? With Religion? C'mon, just talk about Hegel as OYTIE did.

I don't get it. What is this based off of? Why is Confucius and his network so small, and why are Zhu Xi and the Neo-Confucianists all the way on the other side of the diagram and completely unrelated?

And when people see Hegel just as a philosopher! Forgetting the fact that he was the leader of the most important German university's philosophy faculty for two decades. Or how he was best bros with the leading German cultural figure of the time. Or how the quintessential work of Political Thought, On War which reduced/made war a political tool, was Hegelian to its very core.

Hegel is the quintessential philosopher between Renaissance and Modernity. Can't escape him.

> What about his connection with art
Had a very influential lecture series about aesthetics, but didn't invade the field of Goethe and Schiller for a reason.
> With Religion?
Hegel pretty much created the European protestant identity (state is natural continuation of family/society, servitude is essential, Protestants are and always will be persecuted by the others, answers are found in societies, not in individuals).
