Look at my big backlog and choose. Sometimes I take a day or two or longer for rest, because I like to research the opinions of critics and academics on the book especially if it I liked it.

I feel that if I research information about the book, such as another person's interpretations or the intended themes and morals, I'm unable to create my own unique interpretation.

But on the other hand if I don't find out what were the themes and morals I may be misunderstanding the book.

Is it ok to interpret a book a certain way, even if it's different from what the author had in mind?

I reflect on the notes I've taken concerning themes, motifs, etc. in the book I finished.

>> No.5692149

Summarize the book in my own words.
Go through and outline the book in my own way.
Find all the relevant quotes/points for each section and write them down.

This is the only way I'll truly intake what I've just read

I dip into my backlog and start reading again.

I should really start reading more than just 5 books at a time. I tend to get bored and stop reading for a while at the halfway point and then I just feel anxious because there's so many books I still want to read.

I can't really read through these books quickly though, because none of them are fiction and it's pointless to read them if I don't attempt to have their teachings stick.

Still, I've started getting past the halfway point on two so far and I'm no longer moving onto another book.

I've been reading some of these for months and I feel pretty bad about it though.

sometimes the book makes you remember to flip through the pages even after the end. oh man, whatever else is in here is gonna sound cool.

sometimes I just don't care.

I do feel like there is a THE END guy in my head, tho. Oh wait that's SETTLE IT IN SMASH guy saying THE END OF THAT BOOK when I finish, you know, a book
