well yeah. that's why it's called POETIC justice. mostly because you read it in literature as a means to make the reader feel good.

for me it's more akin to science fiction than reality.

anyway, not sure what the op is asking for here. poetic justice seems to suggest that a simple dismissal of retributive justice fails to engage with the complexity of how the mechanism of justice functions. we are quite capable of enjoying the misery of others and judge how deserving they are of the punishment.

it's a pretty interesting subject in ethics/philosophy of action, but i don't think that would interest anyone in particular. can't really think about this subject from any other angle, so there.
