What does /lit/ think of Henry Miller?

fucking bad ass then Monroe and fame ruined him by making him feel happy, content, and wanted.

Henry Miller is my favourite writer. Love him.

What's Henry Miller all about? Is he pessimistic, what themes does he tend to cover?

His early books, Tropic of Cancer, for example were semi-autobiographical kinda. They were a bit explicit - but ultimately he writes to be honest with himself.

Black Spring was more of his early stream-of-unconsciousness style. (not my favourite, really).

Love his more non-fiction works - Big Sur and the Oranges... Air Conditioned Nightmare.

He writes about Modern America, what it means to be a writer, and is basically positive about life, and living and yes!
