Entertaining, repeats the same trick, not very profound.

>be drunk

Glad to hear ur talking to a distant relative of his

shitty writer. that's all.

>>5489034
"one trick pony" is what you're looking for

>> No.5489119

He seems pretty honest. No pretentiousness to him at all which is kind of refreshing.

Some of his stuff can get a bit repetitive, but for the most part it's just pretty relaxing fun reading that can evoke an emotion or two.

apparently not knowing how to write makes people not seem pretentious? good2know

He's a good read, fuck the haters. His poetry is nice too.

I was never interested in poetry til I read his. It's entry level, but still very good. I haven't read his books yet.

Ham on Rye is really good. You can tell that Bukowski wrote it as a very personal book

i have too much hate for this guy to do that

>>5489202
the only one i haven t read, how does it shape up to his first? if you wouldn't mind telling me

>> No.5489235

Why would you read so much of an author that you hate's work?

Ham on Rye is the best novel he has done, but if you have this juvenile intense burning hatred for him, then it won't change your mind.

i don't really know...
familiarity i suppose.
i find it difficult starting new works... for a variety of autistic reasons.
thanks.

He has a playful way with words. Buk Twitter account sucks-- just glorifies dissipation.
He chose to buck convention in personal life, and was recognized for his talent late in life.

I just finished the first section of Love is a Dog from Hell, and god, Buk, it's depressing. I definitely have found a few gems, and even though every single poem so far is basically "I'm old and I fuck lots of sluts and it depresses me and I just want to love and be loved", it doesn't seem to get stale yet.

I'm looking forward to the rest. Probably won't ever read his novels, though.

The 10% of poems that are excellent are worth reading through the rest! which are at least entertaining. Guy was better read than is appreciated. The novels fall very short of the stories though.

good lad, nice sense of humour, bit repetitive and singular in his subject matter for someone who was so prolific. fun.

charlie brubowski? he's just a hunk, who cares

Now is my chance, /lit/. Given the two authors I know she likes, she probably also likes to drink. I'm going to ask her if she'd like to study together some day and hopefully it could lead to more

really I just want to mold someone from pleb to patrician and she has potential here
