I read Dune a while ago, and I absolutely loved it. One of the best works of science fiction I ever read. Absolutely fantastic. So then I find out there are sequels, and just recently I finished Dune Messiah and thought it was pretty great but not as good. Paul walking out blind into the desert was pretty badass though.

/lit/, how much further should I go into the series? I've read reviews and I get the idea that the further you go into it, the more it deteriorates.

Read through God Emperor. After that I lost interest pretty fast.

Read the series all the way through. God Emperor of Dune is fantastic, you may not like the other books as much as Dune, but they're still great.

Whatever you do, though, don't read anything by Brian Herbert, just Frank Herbert stuff.

The best Dune book is called The Armada by Garrett Mattingly.

oh, fuck you OP. I liked messiah, I fucking loved the political backstabbing and the slow destruction of Paul.

Gholas, face-dancers, Midget dwarfs, the stoneburner, unavoidable futures of destruction, a blind protagonist.... shit was goddamn epic.

OP, what the fuck is Agent Cooper doing in your pic?
