Not quite but that would be pretty cool. I wanted to be a paleontologist when I was a kid. Ended up wanting to be a meteorologist when I got older and here I am with meteorology degree working a cloud seeding project.

The project ends in the summer though so now I have to figure out what I'm doing next. Part of life I guess.

you're smugly unpretentious to the extreme- so unpretentious in your actions that you paradoxically build, like quote-unquote pretentious people, a personal brand focused on ridding yourself and your surroundings of people you deem as posers, hipsters, fakes, bandwagoners, and so on.
you're occasionally catatonic in your thoughts and actions because you suffer from this duplicity in your consciousness that makes you act the way you do, and you don't know if/why it's an unfavorable trait of yours, or if you could ever stop- or even have the power to stop.
posting anonymously on 4chan is a cathartic experience for you, because nobody knows your terrible secret.

Although that description is a bit ambiguous, but hey, who am I to critique, I'm the one responding with no actual purpose other than my intrinsic need to defend myself and remain superior. But, again, you kinda just described the average pseudo-intellectual. I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you didn't just think of this complex off of the top of your head either, Mr. ProjectMyInsecuritiesOnOthers guy.

Over all the humor is a big part of it. I do enjoy George Saunders, not to the same degree. He's definitely adopted the affect of Barthelme, a sort of distanced bemusement, that I dig.

What makes his stuff a favorite is that each piece is digestible in size but with a lot of depth. It's casually re-readable. The really out there stuff, like Patagonia, definitely isn't easy to read, but a lot of his experimentation is really successful at revealing the process of narrative writing. The Bodyguard is a good example of this, writing a story using (mostly) just questions yields a writers-eye view of a story about a political coup. I think that's real cool.

every time you post this I feel bad for you. It seems like the only thing you're doing with these books is posting them all over /sci/ and /lit/ with hopes of impressing anonymous strangers on an anime imageboard, and most of the time people don't even respond or acknowledge your existence. I'm not sure if you've actually read them but I've never seen you give any sort of insightful or interesting comment on how much you enjoyed reading them; I've only seen you attach a short positive sentence to your image and then lurk the thread as you wait for replies

It's like you're repeatedly putting up some intellectual fingerpaint drawing on your refrigerator and then trying to get all your friends to talk about it when they come over. But they rarely do...

I post them on lit sometimes to remind people not to forget about the importance of nonfiction writing and to stimulate interest in other areas besides the normal dialogue of philosophy and the same 20 or so fiction books that everyone reads and talks about ad nauseum.
