You all do realize that 4chan is basically a digital variant of the greek states. Each boards constitutes a state with its own board culture yet they all exist within a common cultural framework such as the hellenic world. Greentext have clearly become the lyrical form from which we tell our epos, and since posts are not saved it also emulates the memetic nature of the oral tradition ie. only the best parts gets remembered and later improved. 4chan also mimics a polytheistic belief but here image macros and popular memes are celebrated like icons.
