How does one begin to read this? From first page to the last? Or just the most famous / popular passages? Any recommendation?

Or through some other book about the Bible?

I just want to get familiar with the most important stories first; and most important messages and so on.

read the New Testament first
then go back and randomly start reading the idiotic and barbaric stories of the Old Testament.

The order doesn't matter, it's all insane and will make you cringe.

Start with the Gospels (but start with Mark, the first written, then Matt, Luke, John), then Acts and Romans to give you a sense of the early church and Paul's theology. With the Hebrew Bible, the Psalms are worth reading.

Just read the thing from the beginning. The Old Testament has a lot of cool stories, and is generally pretty metal. The New Testament has some pretty good philosophy, but it seems like some of the authors enjoyed their own writing too much in some parts.

just read the first five books, they're really the only ones that matter

Start with the OT, the NT is much more boring and repetitive than sections of the OT, although you should read the NT too.

Read Genesis, Exodus, skip or peruse casually the next three books, read Joshua to Kings 2. Again skip or casually peruse Chronicles. Read Ezra to Job. Read some psalms, especially 23 and 151. Read Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs (all at once) and half of Proverbs at your leisure, especially the first 10 chapters. Everything after that in the OT should be skipped except Daniel, and Jonah. Maybe you should peruse Isaiah so that you can know about Christian interpretations of the OT.

Now the NT, read the gospels. Read Q, and some of the gnostic gospels if you're feeling crazy. Acts is necessary and then read selected letters of Paul and then speed read Revelations.

Most people who strive to just dive in and read from cover to cover get bogged down by the end of Leviticus. A better approach is to consider the different divisions/genres of the books. Read an OT history book, then a Gospel, then a 'wisdom' book, then an OT prophet, then a NT letter, then another OT history book, and so on.

Excellent recommendation, except for the heretic gnostic gospels.

There's lists you can find with specific passage you can read daily to finish it in a year.

>heretic gnostic gospels

hey why not listen to what Jesus says and not what the church says

Get familiar with the occult and allegory and metaphor so you don't think like clueless fedoras such as >>5337195

A freemason ritual book could also add insight.
