It has always amazed me, even in my circle of friends, how they sit hours scroll through facebook, twitter or forums, they read more than thousands words per day but they will decline to read a 5 line paragraph when I send one saying tl:dr or they say that reading books is boring and takes too much time, they are too lazy or can't concentrate.

I don't know how you feel about it, but I sometime have regrets when I think about the fact that I have read more from retards online than great authors.

I always tell myself I'll start tomorrow but it's always the same shit.

Ever since I gave up nail biting, a habit that has plagued me my entire life, I've been dicking around on here more. I've substituted one habit for another.

Exactly this. The problem with shutting my laptop off and putting it away is that I do actual work on the thing so I feel unproductive when it's not on. But then hours fly by and I accomplished nothing.

I guess it comes down to poor organizational skills. I'm just not one to keep with a detailed schedule everyday.

I can't read any longer fiction anymore. I've been focusing on philosophy and history and I just find it impossible to derive the kind of enjoyment from fiction as I did as a teen, when I want some entertainment I'll rather watch a series, read comics etc. The only thing I've finished reading in the last year, maybe two are short stories.

not yet you arent

life is about habits and you're in the midst of a bad one

but once you get over it, you'll be in the midst of a good one, and that inertia will become a benefit

Because entertainment on fb comes in short concentrated bursts.

Look how online media companies report news these days. They might post something like '50% of people in the UK are non-white, politicians say this is a good thing'. Just based off that par alone it's going to cause huge debate amongst social media, people in droves will click on the link and might only read 20% of the article, but that doesn't matter.
