Hey /Lit/ 16 y/o here. What books should i consider reading? I have not read at all in my life to start. Consider options :
Help out 16 y/o with reading and become a successful e/lit/ist through time,
Or have fun and get him banned.

I would not aspire to be anything like /lit/. It is just a bunch of stupid college kids with English minors that hate all the books that they read in school despite how great they are.

Start off easy.

Do you read fairly well? What sort of things are you interested in reading?

A good novel to start off with would be Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Also I recommend Chuck Palahuaik (probably misspelled). He's decent enough for a good start, though I didn't stick around with him beyond Fight Club and Survivor.

Ask your English teacher about some good short stories or novelettes. This way, you can read a variety of styles and genres and maybe find one you like.
