In answer to your second point, the Church actually formally closed the Biblical Canon at the Council of Trent. No more books of the Bible can be added in Catholicism, even if they were to somehow find the original writings of Jesus.

Sola fide is flatly contradicted by the Bible and most importantly by words of Jesus himself. Almost everything Christ says indicates that salvation comes mainly through action, and can in fact be attained in works alone, though faith helps.
I mean, there are fucking verses where people ask Jesus to summarize salvation for them, how is it possible that we still argue over this stuff? Here's one of my favs from Matthew:
