Is there any book which'd help me get a new/better perspective on feeling like there is a reason to live life and not just lie in bed all day thinking about what is worthwhile and coming to the conclusion that the answer is nothing?

Ok, I'll give it another try just because you posted it.

I've tried to understand every sentence and give it full meaning but fuck it, I'll just let it flow.

I'm slightly concerned as this board has a rep for elitism and hatred of 'plebs' that I'm going to be recommended the most depressing book you can think of. having the trip name CUNT isn't helping that idea seem less likely but will give it an ebook torrent steal.

But there probably is something deep inside you that you want to explore. It might not be mundane thing like sex or art, it might be more spiritual.

Quiet your mind through meditation and listen to that voice within.

I'd recommend "On Death and Dying" by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. Seriously, don't be mislead by the title. It's a slightly depressing but amazing and helpful book that analyzes the 5 stages of grief and suggests to the reader how to react to depression in accordance to the stage/severity of the depression. It's not like those shitty chicken-soup-for-the-soul-esque books; it's a physiological, uplifting, and quite philosophical book that actually is applicable to the average human that is devoid of emotional warmth and meaning.

Honestly, It's so appealing that when the game "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" was being developed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Yoshiko Koizumi, they decided to predicate the philosophy of the game on her theory on grief. They never mention it, but it's so fucking evident it's unbelievable. Boring proof:

I read it and afterward it really gave me a new perspective on life that entailed a significant degree of purpose. You should read it, fellow anon.

You actually need to make a change in your life rather than reading books all day and thinking they're the solution to everything

Yeh, this is true and i know I should. I suppose the issue is that I'm at an age (and lucky to be privileged) that I could do many things with my life. However, when i find my thing I tend to commit to it and go for it. I'm concerned I'll 'go for it' again and it'll be the wrong thing because I came to the conclusion without having enough perspective/thinking about it clearly enough. Which has already happened is partially the reason i currently live in bed. also thanks for the recs everybody

I'm halfway through it, but just don't get the point or 'revelation' that I expected. What's the most important learning from that book (no spoilers please) I'll keep reading it tomorrow along with The Myth of Sisyphus.
