The Pali Canon is where most of the ancient sutras are found. There are new sutras too from enlightened masters in Zen/Chan, like the Platform Sutra. etc.

For theravada refer to: The Anapanasati Sutta

>The Anapanasati Sutta is a celebrated text among Theravada Buddhists.[2] In the Theravada Pali Canon, this discourse is the 118th discourse in the Majjhima Nikaya (MN) and is thus frequently represented as "MN 118".[3] In addition, in the Pali Text Society edition of the Pali Canon, this discourse is in the Majjhima Nikaya (M)'s third volume, starting on the 78th page and is thus sometimes referenced as "M iii 78".

He certainly wasn't very social, but there is very little to suggest that this made him unhappy. His philosophy gave him the strength to endure a tremendous amount of hardship.

why would a filthy hedonist hebephile recommend nietzsche?

He was obsessed with friendship.
>but there is very little to suggest that this made him unhappy
He wrote heaps of whiny, self pitying letters about how lonely he was.

Unless you are already fairly familiar with buddhism your best bet would be the buddha and his teachings by Narada.
