After visiting a friend in the bay area, I started my trip home late night. In order to catch the train, I had to take the bus at this specific time. It would meander around and make a bunch of stops till 5am or so. Trying to sleep on a bus is pretty difficult. But no matter how groggy I was I was up in the cool predawn air waiting for my train trip. Though you can sleep on trains, it was too late for all that. The view of the ocean at my window and the sun rise at the other end of the car was just as beautiful coming up.
Since I was an early rider I had a sort of booth seating arrangement, four seats facing each other with a retractable table. But we made our stops, passengers poured in, and the stewardess asked me to vacate the seats for a family of four, so as not to split the children from their mother. I didn't feel like arguing and move to the more airplane cabin like seats at the other end of the car. These were packed and I lost my view of the ocean and the morning clouds. There was a guy right in front of me raising his voice on his phone, train cars are quiet enough, his signal was weak. I guess this was before texting became popular. He probably made this commute all the time... Was he ever going to stop torturing the person on the other line? Get a phone booth, you fuck! I had enough.
I got up. Had to. Otherwise I would have started arguing with this dope on the phone. At first I didn't know where I was going. I walked into the dining car, looked around, I might have bought a little something. wandered ahead to the next car. Where the hell am I? A first class car? It must have been. Huge blue seats either concealed the other passenger(s) or their were no other passengers in first class. I took my ocean side seat, well pleased with my decision. Steward passes by, says nothing. Hmph. Enjoyed.

The sun rose and watched me sleep throughout the day. I woke to see it smiling at me, perched on the hill, a kilometre outside my house, filling my window with a blaze of orange. I turned over and pulled the covers over my head. Another damned day.

>cold mountain

I DETEST THAT TERM; IT IS NOT THE MOUNTAIN THAT IS COLD, BUT THE AIR; WHAT I DETEST MORE THAN THE TERM ITSELF IS HOW RELATIVELY COMMON IT IS.

I did not scale a volcano.
Next you will insist that we do not use expressions such as a warm day or a cool night.

The cold air does make the mountain cool down. Unless we're talking about a volcano. It's juts a descriptive. Don't obsess.
