Good books on conning/manipulating people? I'm playing an evil person in my DnD group and I want to fuck over people in a crafty way. Doesn't have to be strictly books about cons or manipulation, could be books where villain/protag are just clever little bitches.

Most of these books keep it on the DL, in my experience. Cialdini is the most interesting, though; he gives you deeper stuff, even if it's still surface level. I just spend my time watching Derren Brown videos and figuring out what he's doing, to be honest. He's good, too, because he gives a hint in most of his videos as to how it's done.

I was joking. If you want to manipulate people in rl, it's mostly a matter of practice, it's like tennis, you can't get good just by reading a bunch of books.

But for OP's purposes: try "Propaganda", by Bernay. Jack Vance's Cugel works also feature a very manipulative protagonist.

Only if they don't think everything revolves around methods. Can you imagine if there were a board for manipulation? It would have a bunch of shut ins.

You learn practical methods intuitively with practice. A lot of people, when they read on how to socially go about shit and try to mimic it, you're just like uhhh and you can see right thru them

Seems simple, right? But answer "No", and boom, gone. It's an attempt to establish some sort of control over you and the girl's surroundings. And then you can extrapolate pretty much the entirety of female psychology from there.

Except tennis has strict rules and expectations and methods. Socializing is a lot more complex with different fields and rules and expectations and--it's almost a collection of sports, and, like a language, you'll find that actual interactions with it will build fluency and proper pronunciation better than anything else. Trying to learn from a book, then trying to con someone with a language--heh....

I'm a master at poker, too. I'll know what cards you have like 9 times out of 10. The person takes suggestion from the cards, like an idiot. One time I was sitting across the table from a dude named Jack and two Jacks up on the table, clubs and hearts or something, and he playing with his diamond earring. I had a flush, lol.

I think what you should do is watch Breaking Bad, and if you've already seen it then I want you to watch it again and then pretend to be Walter White. There are a lot of things you can do that might make this easier, like buying some headphones and then playing the breaking bad opening theme song everytime your character does something. Maybe you should also shave your head, and remind yourself that you're doing this for your family. And also pretend that there's a little guy constantly saying "bitch" all the time right next to you. There are a lot of very beautiful things that people can do to improve their D&D sessions, and this is just one of them.

Also, lily of the valley.

Learn to lie.

Just being able to lie without any regard for morality shifts the power balance tremendously in your favor.

Practice lying every day, multiple times. Do it for no reason if you need to.

Also, to remember your lies, mentall create three versions of yourself. The first one is real and you're the only one who knows it. The second one is you, but the version of you for which all of your lies are true. And the third one is not you at all, it's just some completely, entirely different character.

This allows you to not only remember your lies better and think of what they would change if they were true, but also lie very spontaneously by juggling the personalities in your head.
