In all honesty, just create the forum. Anyone here who's been on /lit/ more than two or three hours know of the ZWG. Trying to keep up new info through threads is a dumb idea, new info will come disjointed to people as well.

Also, forums make it easier for each writer to maybe even get their own little thread so they can answer fan questions.

For the next issues I'll try to save money and have them properly printed.

Someone asked where the picture is from. It's by a photographer named Brandon Christopher Warren. It's under a Creative Commons license, so it's not "theft." I mentioned in my email to the editors, though, that it needed to be attributed. No one followed up actually asking for the attribution information. Hopefully the edits can mention Warren's name somewhere in the next issue.

Like I said, get some better editing. Also:

1) Hotlink the ToC. I like how the page numbers actually match up to the pdf but it would be tons easier to click the title and be taken straight to it.
2) Stop the genre categorizing. I know the change is in-process, but for god's sake please just have it by 'fiction', 'creative non-fiction', and 'poetry'. Maybe even add a 'review/article' section if that continues.
3) The formatting seems kind of - bland. It's like you guys are sure whether to have it digital or print and decide on a bi-polar mix of the two. Also, Venus has an annoying as fuck half-box line on it. There's too much white space and it could use a more interesting (but not spastic) font.

I'm planning on some poetry soon, and it's good to hear that people are interested in poetry.

We would love to encourage exactly this kind of thing. We envision this as a sort of amateur writer's starting point, where people can just post whatever they want and receive (hopefully) constructive feedback about their work.

For example, the bulk of the submissions I've read so far have been works with enormous potential to go somewhere - a little bit of revision, some tender love and care - and they've got themselves a real work of art. The biggest problem I see (aside from people not proofreading their own writing) is that many writers have difficulty making a good ending. Some of them are unsatisfying, some of them just sort of end out of nowhere - it's a process, and I hope that we at the ZWG can encourage any one out there with a creative spark to start that process.

The ending thing should not be a problem. The Road had something of a "meh" ending, but it was still a good book. Some people like endings climatic, others like endings as an introspective gaze into the sunset. I do not think anyone should hate the stories because the reader isn't satisfied with the way authors handle their narrative.

We at the ZWG don't do any judging. We may have individual opinions about what we like or don't like, but that has no effect on the stories itself. We don't edit stories for content - only for proofreading.

If I see a problem that can't be easily solved by grammatical editing, I'll usually ask the author to clarify or perhaps to rethink that sentence.
