What does /lit/ think of the Zamonia series? I can't understand why it isn't more popular.

my favourite of the series, but only just

>> No.4979330

those were among the most famous books in my school when i was 13.
captain blaubär is great. it's quite long but there is just so much interesting stuff happening. my favourite has to be die stadt der träumenden bücher though.
considering that this is the same guy who wrote das kleine arschloch his works are amazing.

is wilde reise durch die nacht any good?

>> No.4979355

I fucking love them. I'm lucky enough to be able to read them in German, too.

The guy who made them is actually pretty interesting, Kapt'n Blaubär is a sort of cartoon for children where he tells his three colorful nephews about his adventures.
He's also famous for a parody of Hitler and some vulgar cartoon thing.

I heard that Moers was forced to release this one by his publishers before it was finished and it wasn't great, but I haven't read it personally.

I've only read the beginning at this point, I liked it very much.
You might wanna read the ones before it if you haven't though, It builds up on them.

I have, I just read a lot of reviews that said this book didn't meet the standards of the others so I was a bit sceptical about reading it since Moers's Zamonia is my favourite series.

>> No.4979488

Captain Bluebear is a masterpiece. I didn't really like any of the other ones.
