artists seek to capture some ideal object in their work, eventually they realize it's impossible and their work is meaningless so they fall into despair.

scientists are usually trying to figure out a problem or contribute knowledge to it's solution, the solution is attainable and progress is possible even if it's slow. the last thing they want is to die.

You're the one who is guilty of lazy thinking. Hunger is a biological necessity given proper circumstances, just like depression. Depression is a biological issue as well as a emotional/mental issue.

Their profession has been innovated past the point of such negativity that would result in suicide, because humans are more equipped to innovate in science and engineering than philosophy.

It's like evolution. First, many must die in order to get it right.

I've heard of a lot more STEM people killing themselves than artist/writers, what are you even talking about?

The only difference is that the usual STEM people that kill themselves are noname robots you never hear about, while the artists/writers you will quote as evidence are well known.
