Why do people act opposite to their alleged values? Why don't hypocrites just readjust their values to match their actions or their actions?

because reality is way more complex than any logic. reality doesn't follow logic, it follows many logics. meanwhile, we have been educated to see almost everything as a dichotomy, at least to analyze our reality.
it's impossible for people to do everything as they think.

Reality is too abstract a word, people are illogical and isn't it defeatist to accept this instead striving to be logical as possible?

Usually that would land them in jail or isolate them socially at least.

this isn't a difficult question. most people's alleged values require making choices against one's beastly wants and desires, and most people haven't the willpower to deny themselves and therefore go against the "virtues" they know to be superior, but that they're just not good enough to uphold. For instance, I've always held that hitting women is reprehensible, but when my girlfriend back in high school made out with a dude in front of me specifically to piss me off I hauled off and smacked her to the ground regardless.

>> No.4968751

>>4968745
I never thought hitting a woman was reprehensible and I've done it quite a few times in my days and I don't regret anything.

fuck cops

That's merely lying, hypocrisy is when they lie to themselves. You see it all the time when Christians commit crime, ubermensch piss away the day, and those committed to freedom aren't

uhm, you can't know what their actual values are. How do you know those people are Chritians etc?

Maybe you really don't care about hitting women and the sensation of guilt is society manufactured customs instilled into you. Your actions seem to indicate this, and it might be better to get rid of such notions

Who is that? Striner?

I never saw the point of life without any kind of guiding principles, I tried it before and was without happiness

>> No.4968799

>>4968770
Why would you even care though?

Why do you want sincerity; most of the time, sincerity is the expression of the dullest interiority of the people surrounding you; I'd rather have them affect greatness than show the perfection of their mediocrity.

I'm doing perfectly fine, and the absence of principles is not a principle of mine -- I never thought about it and it always was the case for me.

Well, what is it that you do? I just had alot of sex and other classic hedonistic past times, I felt living off whims poor when a man could just refine his natural penchants into a more concrete line of thought

>> No.4968868

>>4968852
It naturally occurs to me that having sex either often different women or cultivating stories with women as a means to enjoy writing them, for the sake of themselves (or art?) as well as drinking five times a week and reading, writing and having no job is fun; I do not base my behaviour on any word system or any principle, I've been living like this since I was 16, and it doesn't feel bad or anything, it feels great because that's the way I normally behave and behaving like you should, most likely should produce happiness (although I don't believe this word has any value whatsoever and describes anything in particular if not a modern ideal built from scratch).

>> No.4968926

If you always lived that way, then how do you know you are happy? What do you have to compare this to? Life could be better under a life of virtue

>> No.4968930

Feeling unhappy is not permanently excluded from one's happy existence; no one ignores what it is like to be happy or unhappy -- this argument has no real substance.

For two reasons that I can see:
1) People hold a certain set of beliefs but advertise a different set because they feel it will make their life easier if people believe they genuinely hold said advertised beliefs
2)People hold a set of beliefs but experience a genuine difficulty when it comes to acting in accordance with them. I believe I would be a better person if I gave away all of my money to charity but I experience a great difficulty when it comes to pushing myself to actually do it

Sounds like an excuse; emotions are good, but always second to logic, otherwise you'll end up in a jail cell. We practice restraint every day yet some chose to refuse to expand it
