I don't understand this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but drinking tends to dull introspection and let you escape from your own head. At least that's how it is for me. When I'm depressed I've felt some pretty acute feels, but it's nothing so unique that I would purposefully drink to experience it. You know?

You want inspiration? Going without sleep for several days does wonders to how you perceive the world, and the subsequent dreams when you finally break your fast are pretty good too
